About

The Family Resource Centre National Forum is the national representative body of Family Resource Centres in Ireland. As a representative body, the FRCNF provides information, support and networking and training opportunities for its members. The FRCNF adopts an integrative approach to community development in addressing the needs of those most disadvantaged and in need.

The aim of Family Resource Centres is to help combat disadvantage by supporting the functioning of the family unit. Centres provide services for lone parent families, young mothers and others considered in need of extra support. Each Family Resource Centre is different, and responds to the individuals needs of the local community.

FRCs can act as a first step to community participation and social inclusion. Social inclusion is about ensuring the marginalised and those living in poverty have greater participation in decision making which affects their lives, allowing them to improve their living standards and their overall well-being.

Services provided by FRCs around Ireland include:

The work of Family Resource Centres is supported by the Family Support Agency, Specialist Support Agencies and Regional Support Agencies.
