FRC Mental Health Promotion Project - Admin Role

Position: Temporary administrator
Location: Based in Galway city

This position is on a temporary basis, with a weekly rolling contract.

Background

The Family Resource Centre programme is Ireland’s largest family support programme delivering universal services to families in disadvantaged areas across the 110 communities. The aim of the FRC programme is to combat disadvantage and improve the functioning of families through empowerment and support. The National FRC Mental Health Promotion Project is part of the whole FRC program covering 9 regions and 110 Family Resource Centres. Mental health promotion is concerned with promoting well-being among all age groups of the general population and addressing the needs of those at risk from, or experiencing, mental health difficulties. The project supports FRCs in promoting best practice in relation to suicide prevention and the promotion of positive mental health. The project strives towards utilising the strengths and resilience of communities to create awareness, educate, break down barriers, and offer solutions to the complex issue, which is mental health. Prevention can be supported through training, guidance, building relationships, consolidating supports. It promotes a shared responsibility and a shared response to the action of suicide and endeavors to raise awareness and reduce stigma associated with mental health. The overall aim of the project is to reduce the number of deaths by suicide through a community partnership approach.

Job Description

The project administrator role will have a strong emphasis on the financial and day to day administration for the project.

  • Provide general administrative support for the project, including all financial administration.
  • Develop financial reports and maintain a record of expenses and payments
  • Compile and submit financial returns &reports for funders and management group
  • Work with other staff in the preparation of annual plans, annual reports and progress reports
  • Arrange logistics of training events, including training registrations
  • Take minutes, prepare meeting materials and supporting documentation
  • Collate data to support the external evaluation of the project and gathering of learning
  • Practice confidentiality in all aspects of work
  • Perform any other duties that may be deemed necessary by the Project coordinator from time to time

Person Specification:

  • Experience of managing finances, developing financial reports and budgets
  • Strong administration and organisational skills
  • Experienced Microsoft Office user
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Friendly manner and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Excellent work ethic and commitment to deadlines and deliverables
  • Take instruction and direction from designated line manager
  • The ability to work on own initiative and be flexible to meet the needs of the project
  • The capacity to acquire new skills and apply them to the role
  • Wiliness to take part in any training deemed suitable
  • An understanding of the FRC Programme, community development, suicide prevention and mental health promotion
  • To be available for work some evenings and weekends along with some over nights to meet the needs of the program

Accountability

The Administrator will be responsible to the National Project Co-ordinator

Confidentiality

The Administrator will maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work

Salary

The salary will be in accordance with rates approved by Tusla, commensurate with qualifications and experience and will not be less than €30,020.29 per annum pro rata.

Hours of Work

Full time hours 35 hours not including 1 hour break daily.

Holidays

You are entitled to 20 days annual leave per annum pro rata.
